... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to noon
akst Thursday for Broad Pass...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Wind Chill
Advisory... which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to noon akst
Thursday.

* Location... Broad Pass.

* Wind... north 15 to 25 mph.

* Wind chill values... 35 below to 45 below.

* Timing... winds will increase this evening producing very cold
wind chills through Thursday morning. Winds will diminish to
less than 15 mph around noon Thursday.

* Impacts... increased risk of hypothermia and frostbite.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

It has been an active day across southcentral Alaska as snow has fallen
across much of the region. Snow amounts across Anchorage have ranged
from 5 to 8 inches, with the highest amounts over east Anchorage
and the Anchorage hillside. The Matanuska Valley has seen decent snow
accumulations as well, with 8 inches in Palmer and upwards of a foot
along the Knik River Valley. In addition, the Copper River basin has also
picked up from 5 inches in Glennallen to nearly a foot toward
western sections of the basin.

Snowfall will taper off through the evening hours tonight with minor
additional accumulation expected.
