* at 1227 PM CDT, periods of widespread heavy rain will endure
through Thursday. In addition to life-threatening flash flooding,
which happens over a six hour period or less, expect past and
future rains to also create inundation flooding over the next 18

Expect traditional low spots to remain inundated through at least
tomorrow morning.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
downtown Mobile, Midtown Mobile, Pensacola, Prichard, Ferry Pass,

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will continue to cause flooding

underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 5:32 AM CDT on June 22, 2017

Expires 2:00 AM EDT on June 23, 2017

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast
Mississippi, including the following areas, in Alabama,
Baldwin central, Baldwin coastal, Baldwin inland, Butler,
Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia,
Mobile central, Mobile coastal, Mobile inland, Monroe,
Washington, and Wilcox. In northwest Florida, Escambia
coastal, Escambia inland, Okaloosa coastal, Okaloosa inland,
Santa Rosa coastal, and Santa Rosa inland. In southeast
Mississippi, George, Greene, Perry, stone, and Wayne.

* Through late tonight

* life threatening flash flooding is possible as additional heavy
rain bands from Tropical Storm Cindy continue to stream across
the north central Gulf Coast region today. The rain bands will
begin to shift west of south central Alabama and the western
Florida Panhandle this evening. The widespread heavy rain threat
will begin to decrease over southwest Alabama and southeast
Mississippi by late tonight.

* Additional rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely with
locally higher amounts of 4 to 8 inches possible, especially
where the more persistent rain bands set up. 5 to 10 inches of
rain has already fallen across much of the watch area, and the
additional heavy rainfall will only further increase the
flooding potential across the area. In addition to the flash
flooding, many area rivers are forecast to reach moderate flood
stage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. This is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
