... High Wind Warning in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am PDT
Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
High Wind Warning... which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to
9 am PDT Thursday.

* Winds... northwest winds increasing to 25 to 40 mph with gusts up
to 65 mph. The strongest winds will occur through the Interstate
5 corridor between midnight and 7 am.

* Impacts... strong winds can make driving difficult... especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing
trailers. Winds this strong may down trees and power lines... and
cause property damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means that damaging high winds of 58 mph or
greater are likely or imminent. Secure all loose outdoor
furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Monitor the
latest forecasts on NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite media
source.

... Warmest March on record in downtown Los Angeles and many other
locations in southwestern California...

March 2015 was the warmest March on record in downtown Los Angeles
since official records began in July 1877... which includes a total
of 138 marches.

The average temperature for the month in downtown Los Angeles was
68.2 degrees... a whopping 2.2 degrees higher than the previous
average for the warmest March which was 66.0 degrees in March 1931.

The average maximum temperature for March 2015 of 79.1 degrees also
set a record... breaking the previous record of 76.0 degrees set in
1931.

The average minimum temperature for March 2015 was 57.4 degrees...
second only to March 1983 when the average minimum temperature was
57.8 degrees.

During March 2015... high temperatures at downtown Los Angeles
reached 90 degrees or higher on 6 days... a new record for
March... breaking the old record of 3 such days set in March
1934... and matched in 1988 and again in 1997.

From the 13th through the 16th... downtown Los Angeles had four
consecutive days with highs of 90 degrees or greater. This was
the first time that high temperatures reached or exceeded 90 degrees
on four consecutive days in the month of March. The previous record
had been three such days... which occurred twice... from March 9th
through March 11th 1934 and March 24th through 26th 1988.

High temperatures reached or exceeded 80 degrees in downtown Los
Angeles on 13 days... a new record for March. The previous record for
number of days with highs at or above 80 was 10... in March 1914 and
March 1931.

High temperatures reached or exceeded 70 degrees in downtown Los
Angeles on all but three days during March 2015... a total of 28
days... tying March 1984 for the greatest number of such days.

March 2015 was the warmest March on record at many other
locations in southwestern California.
