southwestern Otero County in southeast Colorado...
east central Huerfano County in southeast Colorado...
southeastern Pueblo County in southeast Colorado...

* until 815 PM MDT

* at 514 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This may cause flooding of small
streams... arroyos... low water crossings and other low lying areas
in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Kim... Branson... Thatcher... model... Hoehne... Tyrone... Trinchera and
Delhi.

Additional rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected over parts of the
area. This additional rain may cause flooding of small
streams... arroyos... usually dry creeks... low water crossings and
other low spots that transport or collect water during heavy
rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
