The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
southwestern Dodge County in central Georgia...
west central Telfair County in central Georgia...
east central Wilcox County in central Georgia...

* until 300 PM EDT

* at 224 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
tornado was located about 2 miles southwest of Abbeville, moving
east at 40 mph.

Hazard... tornado.

Source... radar indicated rotation.

Impact... flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
           damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Abbeville, Milan, Rhine, Chauncey, Antioch church and Five Points.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take cover now! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
Mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Georgia...
east central Georgia and southeast Georgia... including the
following areas... in central Georgia... Dodge... Laurens...
Montgomery... Telfair... Wheeler and Wilcox. In east central
Georgia... Emanuel... Johnson and Treutlen. In southeast
Georgia... Toombs.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* abundant moisture combined with an upper level storm system will
lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms overnight early
this afternoon and again late tonight into Wednesday. Heavy rain
will be possible at times over the watch area including higher
rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour over central Georgia
later this morning. Portions of the watch area received 1 to 3
inches of rainfall on Saturday into Monday making soils less
permeable to additional rainfall. Additional rainfall amounts of
1 to close to 3 inches are possible in the watch area through
Wednesday afternoon.

* Flooding in low lying and flood prone areas will be likely,
especially in urban areas. In addition, creeks, streams and
rivers may overflow their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
