Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* Until further notice.
* At 7:45 PM Friday the stage was 18.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 30.0 feet by Saturday evening.
* At 30.0 feet... extensive flooding in progress on the northern
outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
some evacuations needed. Flooding may cause some evacuations and
relocation of motorized land vehicles. Numerous local river roads
are flooded. Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded.
High water backs up into Bon pas creek. Browns, Illinois may be
surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs. River is 3 miles
wide at I-64.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Vincennes.
* From Saturday morning until further notice.
* At 8:45 PM Friday the stage was 14.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue
to rise to near 26.4 feet by Friday early afternoon.
* At 26.0 feet... flood fighting becomes serious. Rural levees are
near or above critical stage. Extensive flooding along old Terre
Haute Road. Many river Cabins flood. Water is 3 to 4 feet deep at
Vincennes boat club. Numerous local roads flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Riverton.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:00 PM Friday the stage was 17.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.8 feet by
Wednesday evening then begin falling.
* At 26.0 feet... major flood in progress. Sandbagging possible in
Hutsonville and on local levees. Gill township flood gage at
Riverton is installed. State Road 154 between Hutsonville and
Graysville is closed. All river roads improved or otherwise are
flooded, some by several feet of water. East side of Palestine
extensively flooded including all of Leaverton Park. Wabash River
levees on the Illinois side in Lawrence County Illinois may fail.

the Wabash River at Hutsonville legacy Power Plant site.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 26.1
feet Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 26.0 feet... Island Creek levee on Indiana side is in danger of
failing. There are 2 farms on higher ground in protected area. A
few evacuations are necessary in Illinois towns of Hutsonville,
York, and possibly Darwin. Local improved Road south of
Hutsonville to Palestine floods extensively in places.

the White River at Hazleton.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 26.2
feet Wednesday evening.
* At 26.0 feet... people in residential Cabins on the riverward side of
the levee generally relocate. Many local roads are completely
impassable. Oil fields are inaccessible. The remaining water
pumps are installed on the west end of Hazleton.

the White River at Petersburg.
* Until further notice.
* At 8:30 PM Friday the stage was 19.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.5 feet by
Wednesday morning then begin falling.
* At 25.8 feet... near major flooding in progress. During the may
1990, the town of Petersburg lost their main water line. This
problem is believed to have been corrected. Seven floods since may
1990 have reached this level. Levees are monitored at this level.
Numerous roads flooded. Flood waters approach State Road 56 near
Bowman. Extensive flooding in Dodge City.

the White River at Edwardsport.
* Until further notice.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 17.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 23.8 feet by
Monday evening then begin falling.
* At 24.0 feet... water is at critical stage for major agricultural
levees. All roads are underwater in flood plain except U.S.
Highway 50. Evacuations are necessary from river Cabins. All
farmland on the unprotected sides of levees floods.

* Until Sunday March 04.
* At 8:30 PM Friday the stage was 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 21.1 feet by
Monday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Sunday morning.
* At 21.0 feet... flood waters reach critical stage for McGinnis and
shufflebarger levees.

* Until Monday March 05.
* At 8:00 am Friday the stage was 20.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 26.0 feet by
Tuesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
evening.
* At 26.0 feet... Shawnee airfield floods as flood waters begin to get
into the hangar. Relocation of livestock may be necessary.

west central Indiana, including the following areas, in
central Indiana, Bartholomew, Boone, Clinton, Decatur,
Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Howard, Johnson, Madison,
Marion, Morgan, rush, Shelby, and Tipton. In east central
Indiana, Delaware, Henry, and Randolph. In south central
Indiana, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence, and Monroe. In southeast
Indiana, Jennings. In southwest Indiana, Daviess, Greene,
Knox, Martin, and Sullivan. In west central Indiana, Clay,
Fountain, Montgomery, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion, and
Vigo.

* Through Sunday morning

* additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected through
Sunday morning, in areas that have already received
significant rainfall over the past few days. This will likely
worsen flooding on area waterways and lead to flooding of
other streams, low lying areas, and poor drainage areas.
