Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Maine and New Hampshire, including the following
areas, in Maine, Androscoggin, central and southern Somerset,
Kennebec, Franklin, and Oxford. In New Hampshire, Belknap,
Cheshire, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, and
Sullivan.

* Through Sunday evening.

* Exceptionally warm temperatures through today will generate
significant melting of snowpack. This melting will result in
rising levels on area rivers and streams. Additionally, a strong
cold front will move across the region this evening producing
locally heavy rainfall with up to an inch possible in some
locations.

* The primary flood threat will be ice jam flooding. The threat
is greatest in New Hampshire where temperatures will be
warmest and precipitation amounts will be highest.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* Timing... through the early morning hours today.

* Impacts... very low visibilities will make driving hazardous in
many spots.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
