Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 2:15 AM EDT on April 16, 2014

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 345 PM EDT Wednesday for
urban areas and small streams in northwestern Washington... northern
Penobscot and Piscataquis counties...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow. All interested parties should take
necessary precautions immediately.

At this time flooding has been reported in portions of the warning
area due to rainfall and snowmelt.

* Some of the areas affected include:

Brockway bridge in Sangerville closed.
Piscataquis River bridge in Sebec closed.
Back Road in Abbott has water over the Road.
Route 11 in Brownville near the baseball field has water on the Road.

* On the Piscataquis River... the river was continuing to slowly
rise. River levels at Blanchard was 9.7 feet and slowly rising. The
river level at Dover-Foxcroft was at 10.93 feet. Flood stage for
both gages is 11 feet. The river at Dover-Foxcroft is expected to
rise to 13.7 feet by daybreak.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
