Winter Storm Watch

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Friday afternoon through
Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Friday afternoon through
Saturday evening.

* Timing and main impact: a strong cold front will cross into north
central Montana late Friday afternoon. Snow will develop with
this front and become heavy at times Saturday morning. Snow will
taper from north to south Saturday evening.

* Snow accumulations: 4 to 8 inches of snow are possible at
elevations below 6000 feet. 10 to 20 inches of snow are possible
above 6000 feet. The heaviest rate of snowfall should occur
Friday night.

* Winds and visibility: north winds of 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph
are possible after the front passes.

* Temperatures: temperatures will fall Friday night and Saturday
to around zero to 15 degrees below zero. Wind chill temperatures
could drop below -20 by Saturday evening.

* Locations affected include: Cut Bank... Choteau... Flesher
Pass... Lincoln... MacDonald Pass... Rogers Pass... Browning...
Marias Pass.

* Note: this Winter Storm Watch does not include the Helena valley.

* Timing and main impact: strong and gusty winds have developed
in portions of the warning area and will continue into Friday
evening.

* Winds: west winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts 55 to 65 mph. Gusts
through favored areas may reach 75 mph.

* Other impacts: difficult travel for high profile vehicles.

* Locations affected include: Choteau... Browning... Marias
Pass... Great Falls... Kings Hill Pass... Flesher Pass...
Helena... Lincoln... MacDonald Pass... Rogers Pass.
