* Flood Warning for...
Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina...
Clay County in southwestern North Carolina...
Rhea County in eastern Tennessee...
Sequatchie County in eastern Tennessee...
Bledsoe County in eastern Tennessee...
Meigs County in eastern Tennessee...
Marion County in eastern Tennessee...
Monroe County in eastern Tennessee...
Hamilton County in eastern Tennessee...
Loudon County in eastern Tennessee...
Bradley County in eastern Tennessee...
Polk County in eastern Tennessee...

* at 621 PM EDT/521 PM CDT/, multiple reports of flooding continue
to come in for the warned area. Several issues on area roadways
continue from the recent heavy rainfall. Three to five inches of
rain have already fallen. Rainfall is beginning to decrease but
the local creeks and streams will remain elevated across the
warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chattanooga, Cleveland, Oak Ridge, Athens, Lenoir City, Dayton,
Kingston, Sweetwater, Rockwood, Loudon, Dunlap, Madisonville,
Jasper, Andrews, Murphy, Pikeville, Decatur, Benton, Ducktown and
Hayesville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southwest North Carolina and east Tennessee,
including the following areas, in southwest North Carolina,
Cherokee and Clay. In east Tennessee, Anderson, Bledsoe,
Blount Smoky Mountains, Bradley, Campbell, Claiborne, east
Polk, Grainger, Hamilton, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs,
Morgan, NW Blount, northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott TN,
Sequatchie, southeast Monroe, Union, and west Polk.

* Through Monday morning

* 2 to 4 inches of rainfall will be common across much of the
area through this evening with localized amounts in excess of
5 inches possible.

* The persistent rainfall will fall on already saturated ground
across much of the area. The additional heavy rains could lead
to flooding of roadways, poor drainage areas, low lying areas
and small rivers and streams across the region.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take quick
action if flooding is observed or a Flash Flood Warning is
issued. If you come to a closed or flooded Road... turn around!
