... NWS preliminary damage survey for 01/15/17 tornadoes...

... Updated information to include all ratings and tornadoes. ...

.Overview... Thunderstorms developed in the afternoon hours on Sunday, January 15th.
A long tracked supercell thunderstorm was responsible for at least 6 tornadoes, and was
also responsible for numerous areas of wind damage across central and North Texas, including
wind damage in Frisco, Carrollton, Prosper, and far northwestern Dallas. These areas have
been determined to be most likely from damaging thunderstorm winds, in the 60 to 70 mph range.

The Coryell and Bosque County storms, have been given a preliminary rating of EF2, with winds
approximately 115 to 120 mph. Additionally, one additional tornado has been confirmed, bringing
the number of known tornadoes on the afternoon and evening of January 15th to 6. The latest tornado
was determined to be on the south side of Mansfield, and has been given a preliminary rating of
EF-0, with winds of 70-75 mph.

All of the 6 tornadoes were all spawned by the same parent supercell, which began in Bell County and
